Smith Architects LLC provided the design for the reconfiguration and expansion of several areas of the offices for the School of Speech / Language Pathology and Audiology for The University of Akron.
The offices are located in the Polsky Building, a 1930’s era department store that was purchased by the University of Akron and renovated into classrooms and offices in 1993.
The total project area is approximately 2,650 SF and included the expansion of the lobby area, relocation of 6 offices, and relocation of the conference room and enlargement of the copy/workroom. The faculty offices were relocated from a leak-prone area under the sidewalk to an area that was expanded into the existing building atrium.
Interior design, new finishes and upgraded electrical and mechanical services were also provided.
